Try, Try Again: Design thinking at the library

After finishing my PRExcellence program I had to run to my next program - Try, Try Again: Design thinking at the library which Kristin and I worked with San Jose Public Library and Yolo County. This presentation was a culmination of work based on IDEO's training, presenting at San Jose Public Library's Mini-Con and quite a few conference calls. I really enjoyed working with Kristin and the folks from San Jose and Yolo County.

The program was listed on the online program but we were disappointed that it was missing from the print program which was distributed at the conference.  We were afraid that there wouldn't be anyone in the audience because our program was missing, but also in the last time block of the conference.

Happily, we had over 30 very enthusiastic people in attendence. Since the workshop involved a lot of group work, we were glad that the people were very vocal and got what our program message was about - empathizing, brainstorming, soliciting feedback and prototyping and that failing at it was a growth opportunity - celebrate failures!

  1. We were pretty worried about the size of our session. So many previous were overflowing with too many people and not enough chairs. Or, like Margaret said, we might not have anyone. Thankfully, people read the addendum and found us!
I have enjoyed working with Margaret on this project for the last year. I feel like doing so and getting to travel with one another has really helped us to get to know each other better. It was also really great working with the folks from San Jose and Yolo.
