Friday afternoon I worked the conference registration desk. I will admit I was a little wary of this, not knowing what my job would entail. Turns out, it was a great experience. The CLA staff, led by Wayne Walker, were so well organized it was easy to jump right in and get to work. The job, I think, was perfect for the library clerk mind (and green mind, as Angelica pointed out); they get this and this, if this happens do this, tell them this... I enjoyed greeting people, giving them their name tags and programs, and telling them where to go, like I was some expert on CLA and not a newbie just off the airplane. I "served" my four hours Friday but went back for more Saturday morning, when they were short handed for the morning of the keynote and start of sessions.
What I liked best about working registration was all the great people I got to meet. I had such fun with Susan from Oakland (Lessa's fellow Eurkean) chatting and laughing about the Dickensian's wandering around, and meeting Shawn from Ontario who is quite the snazzy dresser and thought it was a fantastic idea to get more Circulation staff involved at CLA.
