Exhibits

Exhibits - good opportunity to check in with some vendors and see some new companies. Some highlights ....

Infopeople booth - Maker space

I attended the training for this booth (Poe night) where we got training on all of the gadgets that would be here at the conference. They were all here -= 3D doodler pen, soldering iron, earring making (copper wire and beads), book making, LED light up badge and flower making.

AWE booth - spoke to Sandy about the opportunity to add our content. She said if there was anything, anyone wanted to add to AWE to contact them - very open to it (I don't think apps?). She said there is one person in charge of their content collection. I encouraged her to put together a program for next CLA if she was able to speak and to include someone from a university, schools, etc. She also lives nearby in Laverne and mentioned that Alta Loma, as well as Etiwanda all have the after school edge stations in their schools.

Kodo - new company that has created play furniture. They have a magnet wall (anyone remember our make it move PAL?), a slide ramp, a "sprectrum light lab" or light table, and a "flight lab" or Bernoulli blower (fan that blows stuff through a tunnel) that we've always wanted!!! Best of all, Wess the master of deals, talked Kodo down to an amazing price, so we now have our very own flight lab! Great to have on the floor or just special events .... coming soon!

Gryoscope was there - with the usual booth, lots of PAL photos.

Shoutbomb - had no one at their table. Not sure what happened to them. Wanted to talk them! They offer a text messaging service. I think MP has talked about before. I first heard about text service at my daughter's back to school night. All of the teachers at the school were allowing you to sign up for text service - you text on your phone to a number. The service then allows the teacher to use their phone (without sharing their number) to send out a text message - examples might be test tomorrow, remember your book, project due. These text messages cannot be replied to. At the end of the year, the school dumps the lists so you don't receive geology texts for ever and ever). We could definitely use for things like storytime registration, reminders for programs, and things like donation collections. Perhaps hold pick up / over due - leave that to circ if that is useful? But no one was there! :(

iRead table - had some great SRP stuff! Of course picked up my shirts since they happened be there. Got a tie dye and burgundy shirt. They also had samples of the incentives - cool clacker bracelet, maraca pen, and cow bell (more cow bell!). They had a really nice bag that could be a cool prize for SRP adults? Some cool teen prizes - beat glow bracelet (lights up to the beat of music), phone splitter (listen to your music with a friend), ear bud wraps. Glad they've brought some "tech" (I can already hear Adam laughing at me) prizes for teens!

Demco - had a REALLY cute chair that they had donated to be part of the CLA silet auction.

  1. SirsiDynix also offers an (added cost) text messaging option for Horizon, for overdues, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing the flight lab.
