ELF 2.0 Preconference

Angelica and I attended an all day Early Learning with Families (ELF) 2.0 Summit on Thursday, 11/06.  Angelica did a fine job with the other Brazelton Touchpoint co-hort as table facilitators and shared their experiences how Touchpoints related to their library work. Discussions were fairly lively and the participatory crafts emphasized creative, interactive media vs. store bought/Oriental Trading Company pre-packed activities.

Apart from the fun activities, the bulk of the day was spent presentations by Dr. Joshua Sparrow, representatives from the Brazelton Touchpoints Center and Suzanne Flint. Discussions about the rise of early learning movements and developing Touchpoints and Library toolkit, how we can support the role of parents/caregivers as the expert in their child's early learning, self reflective and table discussions regarding what expectations do you have of the families at your library and what expectations do they have of us rounded out the day.

Rachel Lopez, Shawn Thrasher and Courtney Saldana from Ontario Public Library having fun with aqua beads.

Squishy Circuits
Free books!  I also won a slate art table that was a monster to carry, but Carolyn Brooks was nice enough to store it in her room until I was able to retrieve it from her during the conference.
